Privacy Policy

Effective November 5, 2026

This policy explains what ("we") collects through ExemptBack, why, and your choices.

What we collect

  • Contact details: name, email, optional phone.
  • Home details you enter: address, county, move-in date, appraised value, tax rates, and which exemptions your record shows.
  • Household facts you choose to share: oldest owner's birth year, whether an owner has a disability and since when, and veteran disability rating. These are optional and used only to check exemptions you may qualify for.
  • Purchase records: what you bought, the amount, the date, your typed signature, the time, and the IP address used. We keep these to prove your cancellation notice and sale terms.
  • Technical data: IP address and browser type, kept for security and fraud prevention.

We never ask for your Social Security number, driver license number, or bank or card numbers. You write ID details on the official form by hand. Card payments are handled by Stripe.

Why we use it

  • To run your check and build your report and kit.
  • To process payments and refunds.
  • To keep records the law requires, like your cancellation notice.
  • To support you and keep the service secure.

Who we share it with

Only service providers that help us run ExemptBack—hosting (Replit), payments (Stripe), and email delivery if used—and only as needed. We share information if the law requires it. We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

Sensitive information

Disability and veteran status can be sensitive. We only process it when you choose to enter it, which you consent to by entering it, and only to check your exemptions (Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, Tex. Bus. & Com. Code ch. 541).

Cookies and storage

We use one essential cookie to keep you logged in. Your device may store your unfinished check answers so you don't lose them; tap "Start over" on the check to clear them. No ad or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Account and report data stay until you ask us to delete them. Purchase records are kept as long as needed for legal, tax, and accounting reasons.

Security

Passwords are stored hashed, connections are encrypted, and access is limited. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as Texas law requires (Tex. Bus. & Com. Code §521.053).

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information, or for a copy of it. Contact us below. We answer within 45 days. If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our answer.

Children

ExemptBack is for adult homeowners. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
