Terms of Sale

Effective November 6, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and the seller named at checkout ("we," "us"), the address on your receipt, for ExemptBack. Please read them. By buying, you agree to them.

1. What ExemptBack is

ExemptBack is self-help software. It checks the facts you enter against Texas property tax exemption law, gives you a graded estimate, and—if you buy the kit—prepares a filing packet, checklist, letters, and a tracker that you use to file on your own.

2. What we do not do

  • We don't file for you. You sign and file your own application with your appraisal district.
  • We are not a government agency and are not affiliated with any appraisal district, tax office, or the Texas Comptroller. Nothing here is an official state, county, or appraisal district document.
  • We are not lawyers. ExemptBack is not a substitute for the advice of an attorney (see Tex. Gov't Code §81.101(c)).
  • We are not property tax consultants. We do not represent you in a protest, act as your agent, or deal with the appraisal district for you (see Tex. Occ. Code ch. 1152).

3. Filing is free

Applying for a homestead exemption with your appraisal district costs nothing. You can do it yourself without ExemptBack. You pay us only for the software that prepares and guides it.

4. Estimates, not promises

Your report uses the values and tax rates you enter. For past years it uses today's rates, which may differ from what you were actually billed. The chief appraiser approves or denies every application, and the tax office sets any refund. We do not promise approval, a refund, or a specific dollar amount.

5. Your part

Give true and complete information. You sign your application yourself. Making a false statement on an exemption application is a crime under Texas law. Only claim what you actually qualify for.

6. Price and payment

The price is shown before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. If sales tax applies, it is shown at checkout.

7. Your right to cancel

You, the buyer, may cancel this transaction at any time prior to midnight Central time of the third business day after the date of this transaction. For this cancellation window, Saturdays, Sundays, and U.S. federal holidays are excluded. Your card is authorized but not charged during the window; if you cancel, we void the authorization. Your kit unlocks the next day after the window ends. You can cancel with the button in your portal, or by mailing or delivering a signed and dated notice to us. If a payment was already captured, we initiate a full refund within 10 business days of receiving your notice (16 C.F.R. Part 429; Tex. Bus. & Com. Code ch. 601). Full details and the form are on our Cancellation page.

After the cancellation period, purchases are final because the kit is delivered right away, unless the law requires otherwise or we choose to make an exception.

8. Electronic records

You agree to receive your receipt, your Notice of Cancellation, and other records electronically, in your portal and as PDFs (15 U.S.C. §7001). You need a device with a web browser and a PDF viewer. You can ask for paper copies at no charge, and you can withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us.

9. Your account

Keep your password private. The kit is licensed to you for your own home and your household's personal use. Please don't resell or share it.

10. Law changes

Texas law changes. We update ExemptBack when it does. Your report shows the date its law was last checked.

11. Responsibility

To the extent the law allows, ExemptBack is provided as is, and our total responsibility for any claim about it is limited to what you paid us. Nothing in these terms waives or limits any right you have under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices–Consumer Protection Act or any other law that cannot be waived.

12. Disputes

Texas law governs these terms. Please contact us first—most issues are fixed fast. You may also bring a claim in a Texas justice (small claims) court or any other court with jurisdiction.

Not an official state, county, or appraisal district document or service. ExemptBack is not affiliated with any government agency.
